Relationships & Attachment
Your desire for, and dependency on relationship is not immature or pathological; it is your greatest strength. Everything from science to the natural world remind us of the delicate and dependent dance between separateness and connectedness. The truth is, we need both in order to thrive.
Nothing has the power to rattle our sense of safety and security like fractured connection or broken trust. Whether you’re navigating these challenges with a partner, family member, child, or friend, know that change is possible. We will build upon your inherent strengths while we work to make sense of, and care for the events and patterns in these relationships that lead to disconnection and hardship. Through better understanding your attachment style, and the attachment styles of those you care about, you will gain tools you can use to break these painful patterns and restore connection, trust, and joy in your relationship. By doing this work, you will find yourself more connected to the needs and desires of your own heart, more confident and effective in your ability to express these within your relationships, and more secure in your connection to those you care about most.

Trauma Recovery & EMDR Therapy
The effects of trauma can be vast and complex, impacting nearly every aspect of your life and relationships. Sometimes the source of trauma is clear. Other times, trauma is rooted in periods of instability, lack of safety, feeling unloved, unwanted, misunderstood, or alienated by a parent/caregiver or community. Because trauma so often occurs in the context of unhealthy and broken relationships, it can leave us feeling guarded and disconnected - even from those who truly care for, and love us. The message left in trauma’s wake often tells lies about our value, worth, or wholeness as an individual. We will work to replace these distortions with the truth of your story and experience, using tools to nurture lasting and healing connections within yourself and with those closest to you.
As an EMDR-trained therapist, I use EMDR as an evidence-based practice that supports your brain’s natural ability to reprocess overwhelming and traumatic events, and to adaptively integrate and heal from these experiences.

Spiritual Abuse & Religious Trauma
Whether you are curious about, or already in the process of re-examining or deconstructing your faith, I want you to know that your reasons for doing so are valid and worthy of exploration.
While we celebrate the parts of this process that are liberating and empowering, we will honor, and care for the parts of your story you carry with heaviness and pain. While you might already be aware of aspects of your faith or faith practice that no longer serve you, the idea of untangling yourself from these systems can still be overwhelming and difficult. The relationships formed within high-control spaces can feel like our only lifeline to community, belonging and safety. Struggling to separate yourself from this larger system can feel like being pulled in opposite directions - authenticity vs. fitting in, separateness vs. community.
We will work together to make sense of your experiences and your responses to them, and to identify your strengths, core values, and what you desire from your one wild and precious life.

Depression & Anxiety
Part of what can be so difficult about living in a state of depression or anxiety is the feeling of loneliness and isolation it so often brings. You know what it feels like to be trying your best only to repeatedly feel overwhelmed and "stuck".
Understanding the connection between your mind, body and relationships holds important keys that can be used to unlock deeper meaning and context to your story. I support clients by helping them gain a better understanding of how their experiences, thought processes, and relationships with themselves and others impact feelings like depression and anxiety. We will work together to create space for curiosity and compassion, build strategies to better understand the unspoken language shared by your heart, mind and body, and practice healthier behaviors as ways to manage and improve these challenging states.
You are capable of change. Relief is possible.
